Way back when—almost TWO decades ago—Patricia Crampton, the original owner of Zydeco Ice, had a dream of serving up shaved ice in the community of Georgetown, TX. Born and raised on the Texas coast, Patricia couldn’t remember the first time she had a snoball (New Orleans-style shaved ice), but she knew it was from a young age. After graduating from Texas A&M with a degree in accounting and working for many years in corporate America, Patricia moved to Georgetown with her husband. On a whim, they decided to open Zydeco Ice. Over the years, Patricia had tried many "snow cone" places but never found one that matched the ones she had when she was younger. After some research and convincing her husband, they secured a lease, chose a name, and opened Zydeco Ice in the spring of 2006. On their first day, they sold 12 snoballs—and Patricia was ecstatic!
Over time, the Georgetown community, along with customers from farther away, embraced the business, allowing Patricia to leave the corporate world and run Zydeco Ice full-time. Thanks to their loyal customers and amazing employees, Zydeco Ice became a beloved spot, serving up smiles to generations. To date, the business has sold over 1 million snoballs!
Amber Mims, a local single mom with a big dream, has been a part of the Zydeco Ice story for years. Over time, she and Patricia have become close friends—like family. Amber’s daughters have worked for Patricia for years, becoming an integral part of the Zydeco Ice team. Fast forward 18 years, and Amber has taken over the business. Determined to make life better by contributing to the community she loves, Amber is committed to continuing the legacy of Zydeco Ice by serving the same great flavors and offering the same friendly service that made it a local favorite. While honoring Patricia’s hard work and vision, Amber is excited to bring her own fresh ideas to the stand.

A snoball is a New Orleans treat made with finely shaved ice and flavored cane sugar syrup. Unlike a snow cone, which has coarse, crunchy ice, a snoball’s ice is soft, fluffy, and melts in your mouth.
The New Orleans snoball tradition began with the invention of the SnoWizard® SnoBall Machine in 1936—the same machine Zydeco Ice uses today.
We keep it authentic by exclusively using flavors developed by SnoWizard, a New Orleans-based company. Every flavor is crafted in-house by the nephew of the SnoWizard machine’s inventor, who took over the company from his uncle in 1981.

All our flavors are peanut-free, gluten-free, and dairy-free—unless you choose to add cream! For those with dye allergies or who prefer to avoid artificial coloring, we also offer clear, dye-free flavors so everyone can enjoy a snoball worry-free.
Zydeco is a music genre that evolved in Southwest Louisiana, blending rhythm and blues with the traditional music of Louisiana Creoles and Native communities. It was originally created for house dances, where families and friends gathered to socialize and enjoy music together.
